Imbono welcomes Hunan Province delegation to Luanda

Imbono recently welcomed a high-level delegation from Hunan Province, People's Republic of China, to its Luanda offices for strategic discussions focused on strengthening economic cooperation, investment, and long-term partnerships across Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and China.

The meeting brought together government officials, diplomatic representatives, financial institutions, business leaders, and members of Imbono's executive team to explore opportunities for collaboration in key sectors that support economic growth, industrial development, and infrastructure expansion across emerging African markets. The visit by the Hunan Province delegation reflects growing international interest in the region's development potential and highlights the importance of creating trusted partnerships that generate sustainable long-term value.

The discussions centred on opportunities to enhance trade and investment flows between China and Africa, while promoting knowledge transfer, industrial development, and stronger commercial ties between Angola, the DRC, and Chinese institutions. Participants also explored mechanisms for facilitating future investment into strategic projects that can support economic diversification and strengthen national development priorities.

Among the distinguished guests was Shen Yumou, Director-General of the Department of Commerce of Hunan Province (pictured, right), the government body responsible for promoting international economic relations and facilitating business cooperation initiatives within the province. The delegation was also joined by Zhang Bin, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Angola, whose participation underscored the importance of the engagement and the growing relationship between Chinese and African stakeholders.

Additional attendees included Luís Cupenhala, President of the Angola–China Chamber of Commerce; Ni Bin, President of the Bank of China Branch; and João Li, President of the General Association of Chinese Residents in Angola. Their presence reflected the broad ecosystem of public and private sector stakeholders committed to advancing economic cooperation and investment between the participating markets.

Speaking during the event, Marcelo Hofke emphasized Imbono's role as both an operator of strategic assets and a bridge between investors and high-impact development opportunities.

"Welcoming the Hunan Province delegation reinforces Imbono's role as an investment platform and operator of strategic assets, while also serving as a gateway for external investors seeking exposure to strategic projects in Angola," said Hofke. "Our ambition is clear: to be the partner of choice connecting business, government and financial ecosystems, creating solutions that contribute to the sovereignty and sustainable development of the markets in which we operate."

The programme included a guided tour of Imbono's offices, presentations showcasing the company's activities and investment case studies, and discussions on future collaboration opportunities. The formal sessions concluded with a networking reception that provided participants with an opportunity to strengthen relationships and explore potential partnerships in an informal setting.

The visit represents another important step in Imbono's mission to connect global expertise, capital, and local knowledge to deliver projects that create lasting economic and social impact. As investment interest in Africa continues to grow, the company remains committed to building partnerships that support sustainable development, strengthen economic sovereignty, and unlock new opportunities for communities across the continent.
